I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and I can tell you the description above is very accurate. They are outstanding dogs. They are large, loyal and athletic. He is great with people and excellent with other dogs... If you involve him with other dogs when he's young. They do require daily exercise or they will get bored. A simple walk around the block each day is not enough. They are playful, though be careful (as with any dog) around small kids... These guys don't intend to hurt, but they don't realize how powerful they are.

They are oddly allouf to strangers. They do not bark much, but when they do it's usually for good reason. Training must be consistent, and rewarding. They can be strong-willed, so be patient. While he does not need to be entertained all the time, he does like to be where people are. If you like your dog to join you most places, the Ridgeback is a good choice.

This is definitely the breed for my lifestyle and liking.
